3500 years ago, the first foundation of Quito took place near San Jorge Eco-Lodge. The Cotocollao etnia and the Incas, used to trade their products with the villages on the coast, walking the trails that cross through San Jorge. Pedro Vicente Maldonado and French scientist, Charles-Marie de La Condamine found the exact location of the equator; thanks to these trails. The road opened the area up for the first community to settle there, Singuna (now San Jorge Eco-Lodge). One of the owners of the Hacienda Singuna was Flavio Alfaro, a lieutenant of Eloy Alfaro, a past Ecuadorian President. Years later, it was owned by a Jesuit Monastery. Presently, it is known as San Jorge Eco-Lodge & Botanical Reserve and The Magic Birding Circuit. San Jorge owns four private nature reserves and a new eco-lodge recently built in Milpe.
Dr. George Cruz, Owner, veterinarian and hotel manager of San Jorge Eco-Lodge & Botanical Reserve also has a strong love for painting, nature, birds and history. He and his family have worked hard in order to preserve the property and transform the Singuna Farm into a magnificent Eco-Lodge in the Pichincha Foothills. San Jorge’s International Director of Marketing & Sales, Ms. Cheryl Korowotny coordinates both the private and group tours. As a team, our main goal is the satisfaction of our guests and to provide a truly remarkable excursion for them while visiting our beautiful paradise in Ecuador.
