The new lodge is beautifully designed with capacity for 36 people with spacious room accommodations, featuring traditional décor with private baths and hot showers. Upgraded rooms are available with panorama views. San Jorge de Tandayapa Eco-Lodge offers pristine birding and hiking trails, pond, wild surroundings, tropical plants/flowers, many varieties of wild orchids, numerous butterflies and exotic wildlife unique to the cloud forest.

Natural Areas
San Jorge de Tandayapa Lodge lays on the edge of our pristine Cloud Forest Reserve.  Well-kept trails explore the different parts of the reserve.

Our main loop trail (Toucanet Trail) goes around the lower part of the forest visiting beautiful primary forest and small creeks.

Our newest trail (Nunbird Loop Trail) goes all the way to the top of the ridge to a very ancient forest which is almost completely covered in moss.  This forest is habited by very localized bird species such as the White-faced Nunbird and the Toucan Barbet.  The most impressive views of the valley can be appreciated from here.

The main open air dining area has spectacular views of Tandayapa Valley and is surrounded by beautiful orchid gardens.

We are presently developing 2 ponds next to the lower section of the lodge to attract Kingfishers, Tiger-herons and migratory birds.

A NEW paved concrete road has recently been constructed direct to lodge, with just a 5 minute walk into the lodge.

You may spot up to 30  species of Hummingbirds  at the  feeders during the year, along with Tanager flocks including Grass-green Tanager, White winged Tanager, Golden napped Tanager, Metallic green Tanager, Blue-winged Mountain Tanager, Cineraous Harrier, Toucan Barbet, Golden headed and Crested Quetzal, Plate Billed Mountain Toucan, Masked Trogon as well as the Wattled Guam, Golden rumped Euphonia Crimson-rumped Toucanet, Andean Cock of the Rock and many more bird species.  Recently in the surroundingings we have spotted the Snowy Egret, Striated Heron, Ringed Kingfisher and  White-capped Dipper.

Visit our paradise for spectacular birding in the Choco area of Ecuador!
