San Jorge de Guacayamos is a six-hundred-acre birder's paradise located in the epicenter of the Christmas Bird Count world record area in 2017, where 540 species of birds were documented on a single day! Due to its location bordered by national parks, such as Antisana National Park, Sumaco National Park, Napo Galeras National Park and Cayamba Coca National Park, this subtropical cloud forest reserve is one of the most protected natural areas in Ecuador. Rich in biodiversity, this reserve boasts hundreds of bird and butterfly species as well as an assortment of wild orchid and plant species and a large variety of mammals, like spectacled bears, tapirs, pumas, jaguar, deer and tyras.

Birds: Blue-headed Hummingbird, Bat Falcon, Chestnut-breasted Coronet, Cliff Flycatcher, Bronze Inca, Flame-faced Tanager, Andean Cock of the Rock (m) Rupicola Peruviana, Golden-collared Honeycreeper, Fork-tailed Honeycreeper, Northern-mountain Cacique, Sunbittern, Ochre-breasted Antpitta, White-tailed Hillstar, Slate-crowned Antpitta, Emerald Toucanet, Berryl-spangled Tanager, Black and Chestnut Eagle, Streaked Tuffedcheck, White-capped Tanager, Yellow-throated Tanager,Wire-crested Thorntail, Violet-fronted Brilliant, White-tailed Hillstar, Mountain Velvetbreast, Bronzy Inca, Sword-billed Hummingbird, Chestnut-breasted Coronet, Tourmaline Sunangel, Emerald-bellied Puffleg, Long-tailed Sylph and Wedge-billed Hummingbird, Blue-headed Hummingbird.
